The Secondary Section resounded with the sounds of verses by Wordsworth, Frost, Longfellow, Shakespeare and Hunt as 20 students of class 9 and 10 participated in the first English Elocution of the year 2017-18.
It was heart-warming to see the students memorize the words of these classic poets and muster up the confidence to recite the verses with proper intonation, pronunciation and expression before an audience. The event was graced by guests like Ms. Maimoona from Learning Time as well as Shk. Khozema bhai and Shk. Zohair bhai from Taalim. It was a challenging task for the judge to select the winners but in the end Fatema Shk Mansoor of class 9B bagged the first position as she recited ‘The Man who Wins’ with eloquence.
Amatullah Zainuddin won second prize as she enthralled the audience with an impassioned recitation of Shakespeare’s ‘Seven Ages of Man.’ There was a tie for third position between Radiya Zohair who recited Robert Frost’s masterpiece ‘Stopping by the Woods…” and Zenab Abbas who pleased the audience with ‘The Road not Taken’ by Frost.
