Highlights of Research No. 1
*Impact of Nicotine Related Advertising on Youth Perception of E-Cigarette Beliefs*

The social and electronic media and their influence is irremovable, but it is vital for parents and other stake holders to understand how it plays upon the minds of the youth, and lure them to the quagmire of harmful substances. The first research, which is a discourse analysis, scrutinizes 5 famous advertisements for E-Cigarette brands using the Norman Fairclough Model of Analysis.

The researchers also recommended how PEMRA, parents and schools should play a huge role in addressing the concerns. These recommendations were greatly lauded by the audiences that consisted of doctorates, and lecturers.

Special thanks to Mr. Murtaza Shakir @mhshakir for his input regarding the advertising world for this particular research.

Art Contest Results Create Excitement!

Mondays are full of promise and motivation and this Monday was no different as we announced the results for our poster making and mural painting contest. The esteemed judge Ummehani Ben Huzaifa @thelifeinstrokes who is an artist and associated with the Radiant Arts handed over the prizes to the thrilled winners. What stood out was that those students whose concepts were deep and thought provoking immerged victorious.

We thank Ummehani Ben for taking out the time for judging these lovely pieces on Saturday and also making it to our prize giving to inspire the students.

This is what she had to say:
I wanted to tell you how grateful I am for this opportunity BHS gave me, it wasn’t just an honour but a learning experience to look at art from a different perspective, it had been so long since I connected to children and their art and looking at these artworks really reminded me of where my deep-rooted love for Art came from!

To be able to look at, evaluate, judge and award these artworks was an honour and I won’t ever forget this.

Mural Painting!!!

Our school, doubling as a polling station in the recent election, transformed its walls into a canvas for change. The vibrant murals, handcrafted by our students, didn’t just add color; they whispered powerful messages on environmental conservation.

These murals, a labor of love from the artistic students of Badri High School played a subtle yet crucial role in welcoming voters. Before casting their votes, citizens were greeted by these visual narratives, offering a fresh perspective on the issues that matter most to us, particularly environmental practices.

In the midst of election fervor, our murals stood as more than just art—they became a warm embrace, inviting voters to consider the perspectives of the next generation. The walls echoed the voices of our youth, reminding everyone that their decisions shape not just today but the future we’re all stepping into.

Art Therapy

This Saturday, 3rd February 2024, was perfection personified. The slight chill, the cool breeze, the nip in the air, the cover of clouds was nature’s inspiration for our young artists. The students of grades 5-8 came together in the front ground to propogate their message on saying no to Haram items.

This was a visual culmination of days of brain storming in the classrooms and engagement of parents and teachers with the children to guide them to reveal what prohibited items are doing to the world and how we must stay away. Moalimeen read out Ayats and bayans to inspire the students and instrumentals created just the right ambiance.

The day ended with a select group of talented students painting murals with their revered teachers on themes like conservation and environment care.

Art allows students to relax and we saw students with visual intelligences excel marvelously. After all, schools intend to unearth and polish skills and provide opportunities that make these learners shine.
